HP has unveiled a brand new addition to its all-in-one PC range, the HP Spectre One. The formula with this super-slim AiO seems to be equal parts style and performance.

Today in California, HP launched updates to its HP Envy Touchsmart range of all-in-one (AiO) PCs. Despite this it's the additional reveal of the HP Spectre One that's really caught our attention.

Unlike the Envy Touchsmart range the HP Spectre One is not a touch-enabled PC - which some might consider odd given that it'll ship with the touch-friendly Windows 8 OS. Instead it's being bundled with a wireless trackpad device, which will mimic touch operation and facilitate Windows 8's gestural shortcuts.

HP has omitted direct touch functionality in order to make this the thinnest all-in-one PC possible. Sure enough the HP Spectre One comes in at just 11.5mm thin, making it the slimmest AiO in the HP range. This is also aided by the lack of a physical media drive.

It seems that's about it for compromise, though, as the HP Spectre One features some impressive technical specifications. Its 23.6-inch Full HD display will be driven by the latest Intel Ivybridge processors and a discrete Nvidia 1GB graphics card. There'll also be the option of an SSD for super-speedy boot up and file access.

Interestingly, the HP Spectre One will come with Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, which is something we more commonly associate with smartphones. Here it will be used to quickly initiate custom tasks. For example, you could set it up so that your NFC-enabled smartphone automatically uploads its photos or even logs you in when you sit at your desk and tap it to the Spectre One's base.

You're covered for connectivity too, with two USB 2.0 ports, two USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI-in and a Beats Audio headphones jack. Photo and video editors should be happy, as the Spectre Once comes bundled with full versions of Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 and Adobe Premiere Elements 10.

The HP Spectre Once will be available in the US some time in November, with prices starting at $1,299.
