HP confirms Windows 10 PC launch day availability

HP has confirmed that there will be brand new Windows 10 hardware available to purchase on the July 29 release date.

We’ve known that Windows 10 was coming on July 29 for a while now, but up to this point it’s only really been mentioned in the context of an upgrade for some existing Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users.

Hardware providers have provided July 29 launch dates, but doubts have been cast over this thanks to Microsoft’s gradual rollout plans for the Windows 10 OS, which means that not everyone will get the OS on day one.

HP has finally broken the silence/vagueness and made an definitive official statement on the matter.

In a brief clarifying post over on the HP website, the company’s Mike Nash confirmed that “Right now, a customer can buy select PCs with Windows 10 directly from HP.com and it will ship on July 28th.”

The company is also offering free next day delivery, so that’s pretty much a guarantee that you can get Windows 10 hardware on launch day. At least, it is in the US. There’s a chance there’ll be a slightly longer wait in other markets.

If you want to go and buy an HP Windows 10 machine on launch day, however, that’s another matter entirely.

“Customers will start seeing HP devices running Windows 10 in-store at select retailers beginning August 2nd,” says Nash.

It seems the online HP route could be the quickest and surest way to secure yourself a Windows 10 machine.
