How to download the Evolve open beta on Xbox One
Get stuck in with Evolve’s 4v1 online mayhem from January 15
The Xbox One Evolve open beta goes live today, allowing you early access to the online multiplayer title.
Ahead of its release on February 10, 2K Games and developer Turtle Rock are giving you a chance to get hands-on with the Evolve multiplayer and single-player campaign on Xbox One.
To download the Evolve open beta for Xbox One, you’ll need an Xbox Live Gold account because this is an online only beta.
Once you’ve gone gold, head to the Xbox Games Store on your Xbox One and search for “Evolve Open Beta”, which can be downloaded or pre-purchased now for free ahead of the beta going live.
Any progress or unlocks you make during the open beta will be carried over to the full game when it launches on February 10.

Evolve Multiplayer Beta – Starts January 15
The Evolve multiplayer goes live at 5pm BST (9am PST) today, January 15.
During the multiplayer beta you’ll be able to play Evolve’s Hunt game mode with access to the first two monsters – Goliath and Kraken.
You’ll also get access to the first eight Hunters – Markov, Maggie, Val, Hank, Hyde, Griffin, Lazarus and Bucket.
Hunt can be played across all the 12 maps that support the game mode, giving you access to 8 more maps than were available during the alpha.
If you pre-purchase the full Evolve game on Xbox One via the Games Store during the beta (for which you’ll be charged immediately), you’ll get immediate access to the third tier hunters and the third monster Wraith.
Evolve Evacuation Campaign Beta – Starts January 17
Then on January 17 starting at 8pm GMT (12pm noon PST), 2K Games and Turtle Rock is opening up Evolve’s campaign Evacuation to Xbox One open beta testers.
Evacuation is the game’s “dynamic campaign” that combines modes, maps and victory effects that add up to create over 800,000 paths to glory.
It’s not your traditional campaign by any means, but there is a storyline.
“The planet Shear is getting overrun by Monsters. Within five days, the battle for Shear will be won or lost depending on the actions of four Hunters… and, of course, one mutating Monster.”
Each one of those five days is split up into five rounds, during which you must fight across the planet.
In Evacuation, the first round is always Hunt on a randomly chosen map. Then every time you win a match there’s a campaign affect applied to the next map you choose.
For example, if you save the Dam, the next round will see the workers power up Perimeter Fences.
Below, you’ll see just how one such Evacuation match might turn out:
2K Games is urging people to help stress test the Evolve servers. As such, if you can, try and get online around the 10pm GMT (2pm BST) time on Saturday, January 17.
