The House of Marley, the brand created in honour of Bob Marley and famed for its headphones, has expanded its UK product line-up to include three distinctively styled portable audio systems.
Leading the range is the Bag of Rhythm, available now and priced at just under £300. It has a built-in iPod and iPhone dock as well as a front mounted 3.5mm aux input and touch sensitive controls. It runs off the mains, a 12V car adapter, D-cell batteries or an optional rechargeable on-board battery. For carrying around, this 6.8kg speaker dock comes with a canvas/cotton bag. The baffle is made from FSC-certified birch wood, while the speakers have 4.5in woofers and 1in tweeters.
Coming later this summer is the Get Up Stand Up, also costing around £300, which uses similar speakers in a tabletop speaker dock form, fashioned from walnut and birch. In line with the company’s eco ethos, the enclosure, dock and trim rings are made from recycled plastic. It comes with a remote control and can dock easily with iPhones, iPods and iPads, or any other audio device via an aux input.
Finally the Chant, also due in the summer for a penny under £50, is a portable speaker weighing 6.8kg that can be powered by a USB cable or four AAA batteries. Using a drum-like shape, it incorporates a canvas bag, bamboo top piece, a recycled plastic speaker enclosure, and both a 2in full range and 2in passive radiator speaker driver.
All three products have a two-year warranty. The House of Marley will also produce watches, bags and various other accessories later in 2012. The company donates five percent of its annual profits to 1Love.org, which funds charity projects around the world.
