Homido is a virtual-reality headset that aims to offer respectable smartphone-fuelled VR without a hefty price tag, and it’s now available in the UK.
Like many budget VR headsets, the Homido uses a smartphone for the display unit.
This is the main reason the French company behind the headset can afford to peddle it for only £59.99.
It has a 100-degree field of view, and a “comfortable” design that’s supposed to be lightweight and easily adjustable.

There are 3 vision settings for those who wear glasses too: you can switch between standard, near-sighted and far-sighted options. You can also adjust the distance between the two lenses to suit yours eyes.
The Homido headset works with most VR apps available from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
It’s positioned as a premium alternative to the Google Cardboard headset, without treading on the toes of pricier alternatives such as the Samsung Gear VR, or the upcoming HTC Vive, Project Morpheus and Oculus Rift.

It’s worth noting that the budget VR headset market is burgeoning and, as such, there are plenty of options that undercut the Homido’s value proposition.
We’ll have to wait for a full review to gauge whether the Homido headset offers good value for money.
The Homido is now available to buy in the UK, and can be purchased from a number of stockists including Amazon and Dixons Travel.
