Hipstamatic Oggl finally opens up Instagram posts for Windows Phone 8

The campaign to bring Instagram to the Windows Phone devices may be falling on deaf ears at the Facebook-owned company, but after today, it may not matter anymore.

The Hipstamatic Oggl photo editing and sharing app, popular on iOS, has landed on Microsoft’s mobile app store allowing WP device owners to post to officially Instagram for the first time.

The free application brings official access to Instagram’s API as well as the ability to share to Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Foursquare.

The app operates a little differently to Instagram’s shoot-first-add-filter-later modus operandi. As well as picking a from a variety of scenes (sunset, nightlife, portraiture, etc.) before the shot is taken, while a from a host of ‘film’ and ‘lens’ combinations can be added after the shot is taken.

The idea is to recreate photos from actual cameras rather than just applying a ‘vintage’ or ‘toaster’ look.

All of the settings deployed can be changed before the photo is uploaded, while if you tire of the free options provided, you can sign up for a quarterly or annual subscription to access a host more films and lenses for $9.99 a year or $2.99 every three months.

There’s also a second version of the app tailored to the soon-to-be-released Nokia Lumia 1020.  Hipstamatic Oggl Pro adds advanced photo controls such as white balance, ISO, shutter speed and exposure which could prove useful for those wielding the 41-megapixel Pureview device.

The guys at WinSource seem to like it. Check out their hand-on video with Hipstamatic Oggl for Windows Phone below.

The launch follows appeals from Nokia to get Instagram on it’s Lumia Windows Phone devices. Does this satisfy your cravings? Or Windows Phone users or do you still want the real deal? Let us know in the comments section below.
