Here’s what Instagram of the future could look like

Facebook is secretly testing a major Instagram redesign that could eventually roll out to all users.

The redesign, which was revealed by 9to5Mac, sees the app adopt a flatter black-and-white aesthetic.

However, it appears that the functionality of the app hasn’t actually changed at all. That’s probably a good thing, considering the backlash Instagram faced over its decision to change the order that posts appear in the main feed.

Speaking to Mashable, Instragram confirmed that this redesign was being trialled, and that it only includes superficial changes.

“We often test new experiences with a small percentage of the global community. This is a design test only,” the spokesperson said.

Of course, the fact that this design revamp is being tested doesn’t actually mean it will eventually be adopted. There’s a good chance Instragram may scrap this new design completely.
