Hello Games promises No Man’s Sky patch will fix ‘critical issues’

It has been a week of dramatic deep space exploration for an abundance of PlayStation 4 owners, thanks to the release of the eagerly anticipated No Man’s Sky.

However, rather like an episode of Red Dwarf, it hasn’t been without the odd hiccup with players and critics complaining about multiple bugs, one of which has left folks stranded on planets.

Thankfully, Hello Games is warping in a patch containing some “critical fixes” in the near future, with the maker revealing it has hired an entire team to take care of bugs.

“We’re tracking a number of issues, bugs and crashes that players are reporting, and working to resolve as soon as possible,” wrote creator Sean Murray on the game’s official site.

“The number of people players, and length of average play session, has been far more than our small team could have anticipated. That said, we’re working quickly to adapt.”

In the meantime, Murray provided some workaround for known issues, which will help those stuck or unable to reach their ship. Murray says users can jetpack around while pushing against any surface.

He encouraged gamers to recover from mistakes by reverting to previous saves and says gamers who’ve left their ship “somewhere inaccessible” can summon it “from landing pads or beacons found at most buildings or points of interest.”

No Man’s Sky earned a 7/10 review from TrustedReviews, winning praise for its beautiful and unprecedentedly expansive universe.

However, the frustrating bugs and crashes and the repetitive nature of the mechanics prevented a higher score for a game our reviewer called a “phenomenal achievement.”
