Head Back to the Future in a DeLorean with Uber and Pepsi

It’s Back To The Future Day, which has turned out to be a veritable gold-mine for marketing teams.

Amongst those capitalising on Marty McFly-mania are Uber and Pepsi, who have teamed up to offer Londoners a ride in a DeLorean.

For those unaware, that’s the classic car used to travel through time in the cult movie Back To The Future II.

In the movie, Marty McFly travels to the future from 1985, ending up in 2015, specifically October 21.

The astute amongst you will realise that’s today, and so you may want to celebrate by hitching a ride in McFly’s iconic motor.

“We may not be able to travel through time but at Uber, we’re all about looking to the future,” says Sarah Brightwell, Senior Marketing Manager at Uber.

Brightwell adds: “We’re thrilled to be marking Future Day with Pepsi Max by bringing fans an iconic ride at the touch of a button; a nod to a cult 80’s film using today’s brands and tomorrow’s technology.”

But where does Pepsi come in? Well when McFly travels to the future, he orders himself a Pepsi Perfect at Cafe ‘80s.

“The ‘Pepsi Perfect’ scene in Back To The Future II is an iconic moment in the film, and we wanted to give back to fans on Future Day,” says Alex Nicholas, Senior Brand Manager at Pepsi Max.

To grab a visit to the future, you’ll need to enter the promo code PEPSIMAX into the Uber app to unlock the DeLorean icon.

You’ll then have a chance to win a free ride in the iconic time machine.

The DeLoreans are available for one day only, cruising around the UK’s capital between 10:00 and 15:00.
