HBO is coming to Sling TV, making the cord-cutting dream a reality

The HBO network is soon to launch on the emerging U.S. web-TV platform Sling TV.

Sling has confirmed an earlier report from the Wall Street Journal claiming Sling’s parent company Dish Network had come to an agreement with HBO to make its programming available next month.

Sling customers will be able to subscribe to HBO when they sign up for the company’s core package of channels.

“HBO will be available for $15 per month when customers sign up for the “Best of Live TV” core package,” a Sling statement read (via SlashGear).

The new offering includes one live channel and the same extensive VOD library HBO provides on its other platforms. Each month, HBO offers more of the biggest and latest Hollywood hit movies, original HBO Films, groundbreaking documentaries, sports, and comedy and music specials.”

The Best of Live TV package costs $20 a month and allows users no-strings access to a series of premium TV channels without the need to commit long-term. Additional channels cost $5 a month.

With HBO seen as the crown jewel of American television, the addition is great news for Statesiders hoping to chop their expensive monthly cable package without sacrificing top programming like Game of Thrones.

Of course HBO Now, the new standalone streaming service from HBO goes a long way towards achieving this already. The $14.99 a month service will launch on Apple TV in time for this month’s Game of Thrones season premiere. It’ll also be available to pay-TV customers through the Cablevision platform.
