Hasselblad could announce Moto Z camera mod this week

Swedish camera specialist Hasselblad could announced a pro camera mod for the new Moto Z later this week.

Like a games console without any third party games, a modular phone without a useful range of additional mods isn’t really much use. Just ask LG with its LG G5, which is yet to offer an additional module from the launch selection.

Lenovo and Motorola will be hoping not to fall into the same trap with their new Moto Z, and they could already have their first third party partner in Hasselblad.

The company was already rumoured to be onboard with the Moto Z, and it has just announced that it is holding an event on June 22. One of the products on offer could well be a ‘Moto Mod’ camera for the Moto Z.

As pointed out by Pocket-lint, there’s a chance the close-up image on Hasselblad’s invite could be that mod, with its flat black sensors and small physical controls. It also hints at a premium product, with its metal design.

Of course, it’s also possible that this image shows a stand-alone camera that’s nothing to do with the Moto Z. Earlier alleged leaks of the Hasselblad mod showed an all-black device, after all.

Whatever the image shows, there’s a decent chance that Hasselblad will have a Moto Z camera mod to show off on June 22. There’s not long to wait now.

Is this the mod to tempt you into considering the Moto Z as your next phone? Let us know in the comments.
