Has Rockstar quietly shelved GTA 6 development?

Grand Theft Auto fans may face a longer wait for the next installment, with recent reports claiming Rockstar has, for the time being, suspended work on GTA 6.

Speculation has been abound since a rumored appearance at the PlayStation Meeting event proved completely unfounded.

Now some reports are suggesting it’ll be cancelled completely and others say it has been postponed to enable continued support of the still hugely popular GTA 5.

Further whispers have suggested the company may be saving an announcement for next summer’s E3 2017 expo.

Now Parent Herald is reporting a delay might have something to do with a forthcoming exclusivity deal with Sony or Microsoft.

Given how much either party would need to fork out to make this worthwhile to Rockstar, we’d say this is also an unlikely scenario.

Needless to say these are all particularly wild rumours right now.

We had heard little to suggest GTA 6 was on deck for the PlayStation Meeting event in the first place, so reports fussing over a so called “no show” appear to be reaching a bit.

GTA 5 arrived in 2013 and remains just as popular among gamers. Despite its age, it briefly topped the UK game sales chart this summer.

Most observers expect GTA 6 won’t be announced until 2017, with Red Dead Redemption 2 coming first.

Here’s everything we know about GTA 6 so far.
