Halo 5 release date for Xbox One set for 2015

The Halo 5 release date for Xbox One has been set, with the game not destined to launch until 2015 despite having been used to demo the console last year.

With the Halo franchise having been expected to take its first next-gen bow later this year, one of the game’s leading voice actors has confirmed that a Halo 5 release date will not be held until 2015.

Although an exact date for release has yet to be confirmed, it is expected that the game will hit retailers towards the end of the year during the crowded, and highly lucrative, pre-Christmas window.

“I think you may be ahead of yourself on Halo 5,” Steve Downes, the voice of Halo’s lead character Master Chief said in an interview with GameZone.

Breaking many a gamers’ heart, he added: “I wouldn’t expect anything until 2015.”

Although revealing that a Halo 5 release date is not bound for 2014, Downes did offer a glimmer of hope to fans of the Halo franchise, suggesting a separate Halo offering could launch for the Xbox One before the end of the year.

“What you can look forward to this year is an anniversary edition of Halo 2,” Downes teased.

Although Microsoft has yet to offer any formal confirmation of the launch, the proposed title would give Xbox One gamers their first taste of next-gen Halo 10 years after the Halo 2 title originally launch.
