Pornhub offering hackers $25,000 to penetrate its backdoors

Popular penetration portal Pornhub is teasing hackers with a reward of up to $25,000 (USD) if they can uncover bugs on its smutty site.

The adult website is offering the bounty to white hat hackers and security researchers via HackerOne, which has also been used by the likes of Uber, Twitter, Yahoo, Adobe, and more.

Rewards range from a minimum of $50 per bug discovered (£35) right up to the headline figure of $25,000, which equates to about £17,300.

Announcing the new programme, Pornhub Vice President Corey Price said:

“Like other major tech players have been doing as of late, we’re tapping some of the most talented security researchers as a proactive and precautionary measure – in addition to our dedicated developer and security teams -- to ensure not only the security of our site but that of our users, which is paramount to us.

"The brand new program provides some of our developer-savvy fans a chance to earn some extra cash – upwards to $25K – and the opportunity to be included in helping to protect and enhance the site for our 60 million daily visitors.”

Of course, there's plenty of fine print when it comes to the initiative - only certain forms of hacking are allowed, and the adult website says it won't be paying out rewards for up to 90 days, to allow its security team to patch the vulnerabilities discovered.

Still, if you're a dab hand at bug hunting, this has to be one of the more interesting ways to earn a bit of extra pocket money.
