GTA 5 PS4 release date confirmed for ‘fall 2014’

Luke Johnson

GTA 5 is going next-gen, with Sony officially confirming that a GTA 5 PS4 release date will be held later this year.

Confirmed during Sony’s PlayStation themed E3 press conference, the gaming giant revealed that Rockstar’s open world behemoth will move beyond its PS3 and Xbox 360 roots for the first time during ‘fall 2014’.

Despite using Sony's conference as its next-gen launch platform, developer Rockstar has confirmed that a GTA 5 Xbox One release will land alongside the PS4 edition of the game.

What's more, PC gamers are also set to enjoy GTA 5 gameplay for the first time this autumn too.

“I’m thrilled to announce that Grand Theft Auto 5 for PS4 will launch this fall,” Andrew House, President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment said in making the announcement.

As well as confirming the upcoming GTA 5 PS4 release date, House revealed that PS4 gamers will also be given the chance to continue their GTA 5 progress from their previous PS3 or even Xbox 360 activities.

Despite announcing a fall arrival, an exact GTA 5 PS4 release date has yet to be finalised. However, this launch window should see the eagerly awaited release touch down between September and November, a year after GTA 5 was originally introduced.

I just jizzed in my pants! Too long in coming R*. I will torrent a ps4 copy when possible, but I will not buy this. I bought the last game and even bought a couple or shark card then lost everything in their anti-cheating updates. Even the card funded money. That really turned me of GTA4.

i knew this was going to happen all along. everyone kept saying "why didn't they wait for next-gen?" .. "they won't make it for next-gen" .. there is a reason you're not in charge of Rockstar's management. How genius is this: They will make hundreds of millions of dollars off selling the same game twice. Now they can profit off the PSN sales with ps4 users regarding GTA V Online. Win-Win for them.
