GTA 5 is now the best-selling game of all time

GTA 5 is now the best-selling game of all time in the UK, according to retail monitor GfK Chart-Track.

Originally launched on the Xbox 360 and PS3 in September 2013, Rockstar Games launched GTA 5 on the Xbox One and PS4 on November 18.

It was originally the UK’s highest grossing game of all time from its original launch last year, but the new-gen version has pushed it over the edge.

Day One sales alone of GTA 5 PS4 and Xbox One saw the game overtake Call of Duty: Black Ops to become the UK’s best-selling game ever in terms of units sold.

The revamped GTA 5 therefore soared to the top of the UK All Format Gaming Chart this week.

Another new entry, Far Cry 4, debuted at number 2, with the strongest week one sales for the series as a whole.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare therefore dropped two places this week to number three, with FIFA 15 and Dragon Age: Inquisition at number four and five respectively.

Assassin’s Creed Unity dropped from second place to number six this week. While at number seven was WWE 2K15, rising from number 20 thanks to its PS4 and Xbox One launch.

Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham fell to number eight, with Minecraft: PlayStation addition at number nine.

Rounding off the top ten in the UK All Format Gaming Chart this week is Halo: The Master Chief Collection, which dropped seven places from its spot at number three last week.
