GTA 5 box art officially unveiled by developer Rockstar

Publisher Rockstar has formally unveiled the GTA 5 box art, just hours after giving eager gamers a glimpse of the game’s upcoming cover courtesy of a building mural in New York.

With the gaming giant having recently confirmed that the official GTA 5 box art would be formally unveiled “soon,” Rockstar has offiically outed the games cover, releasing digital copies of the cover art which has also been painted on the side of a New York City building.

Unveiling the GTA 5 box art via an offiical press release, Rockstar declared simply: “Presenting the official cover art for Grand Theft Auto V featuring Franklin, Michael and Trevor,” the game’s three leading characters.

As previously hinted, Rockstar has revealed that the game’s sleeve will be made up of a selection of already released GTA 5 screenshots, pulling together a host of the game’s characters and content to form a single, engaging image.

When asked via Twitter yesterday “when is it going to be finished?” Rockstar, speaking on the GTA 5 box art that had been showcased as a building mural, teasingly responded: “next day or so, digital versions coming soon!”

GTA 5 Release Date

Although having previously been pegged for a ‘spring 2013’ arrival, Rockstar earlier this year backtracked on its original plans, switching the eagerly awaited GTA 5 release date to September 17, a move which both angered and disappointed a number of expectant fans.

“Grand Theft Auto V will arrive in stores on September 17, 2013,” Rockstar said in delaying the latest addition to the much loved Grand Theft Auto franchise. “We know this is about four months later than originally planned and we know that this short delay will come as a disappointment to many of you, but, trust us, it will be worth the extra time.”

The company added: “GTA V is a massively ambitious and complex game and it simply needs a little more polish to be of the standard we and, more importantly, you require.

“We are doing all we can to help ensure it will meet if not exceed your expectations come September – we thank you for your support and patience.”
