Grid 2 roars into first place in UK All Format Gaming Chart

Grid 2 has entered the UK All Format Gaming Chart in pole position this week, celebrating Codemasters’ first top spot entry since 2010.

The new release has taken the top spot this week in the UK All Format Gaming Chart, beating its predecessor Grid, which only managed to reach second place. However, launch week sales are 29 per cent less for Grid 2 than the original game.

Half-term week has been kind on FIFA 13, which held firm in second place again this week, seeing a 17 per cent sales rise.

Dead Island: Riptide rose to third place from fourth, while Far Cry 3 now lies in fourth place due to a new promotional price tag. This new price saw sales rise by 35 per cent during the week ending June 1.

Last week’s chart leader, Resident Evil: Revelations, has dropped to number five this week, as it sales fell by 45 per cent. Assassin’s Creed 3 is still strong at number 6 for the second week in a row.

Previous top spot holder Metro: Last Night now lies in seventh place, down from third last week. Nintendo’s Donkey Kong Country Returns on 3DS is at number eight.

A re-entry into the UK All Format Gaming Chart top 10, Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes takes ninth place this week, perhaps also boosted by the half-term purchases.

The Square Enix Tomb Raider reboot is still clinging onto a top ten position in tenth place this week, falling three places from seventh.

Unfortunately, the only other new release entry into this week’s gaming chart has failed to make an impression on consumers. EA Games and Insomniac’s new four player co-op shooter, Fuse, entered the chart at number 37 this week for Xbox 360 and PS3.
