GoPro has announced a new affordable action cam, the GoPro Hero+, with a number of key improvements.
As the name suggests, the GoPro Hero+ slots in above the entry-level GoPro Hero with a couple of notable additions. It adds Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity to the mix.
It means that you can now get a fully functional, modern action camera for for just £170. To place that in context, the next model up is the GoPro Hero+ LCD for £250.
"Even as we continue to raise the bar for our highest performing cameras like HERO4 Black, Silver and Session, we remain committed to developing simplified products like HERO+ that make GoPro life-capture accessible to everyone," said GoPro founder and CEO Nicholas Woodman.
Of course, you don't get the touchscreen capabilities of the GoPro Hero+ LCD. Otherwise, though, it's pretty much the same camera. You can shoot 1080p video at 60fps (which is better than the 30fps base Hero model), and capture 8-megapixel stills (up from 5-megapixel).

The GoPro Hero+ Wi-Fi is also waterproof down to 40 metres. As is the way with GoPro's budget range, however, you can't capture silky slo motion footage as you can with the Hero4.
The new GoPro Hero+ will be available to buy from authorised retailers from October 4.
