In our minds every extreme sports maneuver that’s ever been caught on a GoPro has prompted a ‘that was sick, bro!’ utterance from a California type with matted blonde hair and an awesome tan.
So it was no surprise to learn that the firm’s next flagship Hero 5 camera will have a voice command feature that caters to just that segment of the audience.
A new Hero 5 leak has revealed any time the camera hears someone say “that was sick!” it’ll add a highlight tag, making the footage easier to identify once filming is complete.

The newly added voice commands will also allow users to power the camera on and off, start and stop capturing video and take photos (single, burst and time-lapse).
The page from the manual which you can see below was obtained by The Verge following the leak of images and specs earlier on Friday.
According to the leak, the video resolution will remain the same as the GoPro Hero 4, topping out 4K video at 30 frames per second, but with a slow-mo mode offering 720p/120fps.
The image stabilization tech tipped for a while will arrive, judging by the spec dump, but not at 4K resolution, or above 60fps. USB Type-C is also on the cards as well as cloud connectivity.
The GoPro Hero 5 is expected to arrive before the end of the year, just in time for the radical winter sports holiday we’re not really planning.
