Google X Phone leaked by Motorola

Motorola has leaked the existence of the so-called Google X Phone, which it is developing for parent company Google.

Motorola has posted a job listing for a “Sr Director Project Management, X-Phone,” on the business-oriented social network, Linkedin. This is about as official a confirmation as we’re likely to get at this point that new Motorola-Google phone is indeed in the works.

The advert, as revealed by Phandroid, has since been pulled from Linkedin.

Unfortunately, there are no tidbits of information on the device itself to be gleaned from the job listing, only that the X Phone will be a “next generation smartphone platform.” Which is pretty obvious, really.

Google X Phone Specs
All we have on the X Phone’s specs at this point is conjecture and rumour. It’s believed that the phone will sport a 5-inch 1080p edge-to-edge display with a very small bezel.

It’s also believed that the X Phone will run on the next iteration of the Android OS, Key Lime Pie. Slightly concerningly, one previous rumour suggests that the X Phone will sport a custom UI rather than Google’s increasingly accomplished stock Android effort.

Here’s hoping that particular rumour doesn’t come to pass, or that the UI tweaks are suitably subtle at least.

We may well see the Google-Motorola X Phone launched at Google I/O in May.

Are you excited by the confirmation of this X Phone? Or is Samsung the only Android manufacturer that matters at present? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
