Google will pay you to ride around in its autonomous car
Google is now hiring testers for its autonomous car project.
Do you dream of riding around in Google’s futuristic self-driving car all day? How about if you could get paid for the privilege?
Well, your dream may have just come true. The internet giant recently posted a job listing for a “Self-Driving Vehicle Operator / Operations Associate” in the Phoenix, Arizona area.
Responsibilities will involve “operating a vehicle for six to eight hours per day collecting data for our engineering team.” So basically being driven around all day.
Of course, there are a few notable caveats. First, there’s that location. It’s an awfully long commute to Arizona from most parts of North America, let alone the rest of the world.
You’ll also need to be able to drive, should the worst occur and you need to take control of the vehicle. A clean driving license is a related requirement.
Another important duty will be to “Provide concise written and oral feedback to the engineering team,” as well as to “complete daily reports and document procedures and tests”. So your writing and communication skills will need to be up to scratch, with a minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute.

The successful applicant will also need to be open to travel for as long as a month at a time. Oh, and despite requiring a college degree, the pay is a relatively modest $20 (£14) per hour.
All that aside, go follow your self-driving dreams!
