Google has won Tech Brand of the Year at the TrustedReviews Awards 2016.
The search engine giant manages to juggle countless products and services with unending success, and that’s been recognised by readers who decided this Readers’ Choice category.
This year saw Google unveil a new operating system, Android 7.0 Nougat, as well as two ‘Made by Google’ smartphones, the Pixel and Pixel XL. We also got a smart home speaker, Google Home, and a new Chromecast Ultra that supports 4K video.
Celebrating Google’s success this year, our search-happy editor Evan Kypreos said:
“It’s rare that a company excels in both the software and hardware field but Google has managed just that this year. We have come to rely on its software on a daily basis, and it’s only got better. Then came the likes of the new Chromecast, Onhub, Home and of course the great Pixel range. There’s a good reason the public have chosen Google this year and it’s a well-deserved victory.”
We gave the Google Pixel smartphone a 4.5/5 score in our review, praising its stunning camera, slick Android OS, ergonomic design, and super fast operation. Here’s our verdict from the original review:
“A stunning camera makes Google’s first proper smartphone a contender for best Android phone of 2016.”
We also gave the Google Pixel XL smartphone an equally high score, and look forward to what Google’s efforts in 2017 will bring.
