Google Street View car catches itself speeding in Glasgow

Like a Big Brother of the roads, Google Street View is always watching, even sometimes to the detriment of Google itself.

A Google Street View car appears to have caught itself speeding while recording images in Scotland.

A Dutch transport charity worker based in Glasgow posted the incriminating Street View image on Twitter, as spotted by the Inquirer.

In the shot, it’s clear that the car is cruising through Glasgow at 37mph in a 20mph zone – tut, tut.

Google Street View launched way back in 2007 – the year of the iPhone – and was initially limited to just a handful of US cities.

Since then, the service has ballooned in size and, as of June 2012, had covered 5 million miles of roads in 39 countries across 3,000 cities. At the time, Google revealed this amounted to an incredible 20 petabytes of data.

Do you think Glasgow’s police should lock Google up and throw away the key? Let us know in the comments.
