Google smartwatch specs leak, 1.65-inch LCD display tipped

A range of claimed Google smartwatch specs have leaked, with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Gear rival reportedly set to feature a square, 1.65-inch LCD display.

Although the search giant has yet to formally confirm plans to enter the wearables race, the Google smartwatch has been the subject of multiple leaks and rumours in recent weeks, with the smartwatch tipped to be unveiled later this summer.

Now, according to the Twitter-based serial tech tipster @evleaks, it has been suggested that the inbound Google smartwatch will feature a square, 1.65-inch display.

If accurate this will see the Google watch line up a mere 0.02-inches bigger than the 1.63-inch Samsung Gear 2.

Although marginally larger, the Google smartwatch has been tipped to feature a 280 x 280 pixel resolution, lower than the 320 x 320 pixel display on the rival Samsung watch.

The @evleaks Tweet has teased further Google smartwatch specs, with the wrist wear expected to land with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage in tow.

Unlike the Samsung Gear 2, there has been no suggestion of the Google smartwatch playing host to an integrated camera.

“More Google (LG) smartwatch specs: 1.65” IPS LCD @280×280, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage, processor TBD,” the tweet stated.

According to recent reports, the Google smartwatch will be formally unveiled during Google I/O between June 25 and 26.
