An Easter Egg has been freshly-unearthed on Google Maps, and it might be the strangest one you’ll ever come across.
If you search for the city of Rawalpindi in Pakistan (or just follow this link), you’ll find a very clear image of the cute Android robot doing something not so adorable – taking a leak on an apple.
It’s not clear how long the doodle has been there, but it’ll probably be pulled down soon, with the party responsible likely to receive a ticking off and plenty of street cred.
Needless to say, there isn’t a real Android-robot-weeing-on-an-apple monument in Rawalpindi, so you’ll only find the image on the traditional map view, not using satellite imagery.
There’s been bad blood between Google and Apple for a long time, and this is likely to add extra spice to the rivalry.
Late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs and current Google chairman Eric Schmidt fell out spectacularly after the launch of Google’s mobile operating system. Jobs accused Schmidt, who used to serve as a member of Apple’s board, of stealing Apple’s idea.
“I’m going to destroy Android, because it’s a stolen product,” Walter Isaacson’s Jobs biography has him saying.
“I’m willing to go thermonuclear war on this. I will spend my last dying breath if I need to, and I will spend every penny of Apple’s $40 billion [£26 billion] in the bank, to right this wrong.”
