The latest Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) firmware update has been made available for owners of certain Android devices, including the Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone and Motorola Xoom tablet. Owners of these devices in the UK and US can now download Android 4.0.4 over the air. Google has promised to extend the update to owners of other Android devices in the coming weeks.

Google claims the latest build will deliver “stability improvements, better camera performance, smoother screen rotation, improved phone number recognition and more.”

Many Android Gingerbread smartphones and Honeycomb tablets are expected to get the bump up to Ice Cream Sandwich this year. Are you gagging for a scoop of ICS? Drop us a line in the comments.
