In a somewhat surprising move, Google has launched a new range of Live Cases for its Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P smartphones.
The accessories can be ordered with custom designs or satellite images from Google Maps.
Thanks to the ingrained NFC chip, snapping the Live Case to the back of the phone will instantly load a matching ’Living Wallpaper,’ with associated snaps.
The NFC capabilities also come in handy for the button built into the case, which users can assign to an app of their choosing.
The cases can be designed and ordered form the Google Store, with users able to choose colour schemes and a glossy or matte finish after uploading the main image or choosing a segment of the map.
Live Cases, which cost $35, appear to be a nice way to give the Nexus phones more individual flavour beyond the pure Android Marshmallow experience.
