Google Play Store 4.4.21 update available to download now

Google has launched the new Google Play Store 4.4.21 update, offering the previously leaked slide-out UI design.

The 4.4.21 Google Play Store app update offers a new user interface for Android devices ahead of the Android 4.4 KitKat launch.

After the 4.4.21 update was discovered in some leaked screenshots last week, Google has made the update available to download and install manually.

The APK is just 5.84 and can be downloaded from Android Police, with the guarantee that it is signed by Google and upgrades your existing Play Store safely.

Google has moved to a slide out-style navigation system for the 4.4.21 update that will make the Play Store easier to navigate. The various section of the store, including Home, My Apps, Movies & TV and Wish List, all have their very own tabs with the new update.

The drop down menu will now only contain the Settling and Help menu access.

This means, unlike the current 4.3.11 version of the app, all the store’s sections aren’t crammed into one menu.

Google will inevitably push the download to devices in the coming weeks, potentially after announcing a more drastic card-heavy UI version at the Google Play event on Thursday, October 24.

The Google Play event for October 24 was announced on October 18 and was thought to be the official unveiling of the Google Nexus 5. However, a number of reports have suggested the event won’t be used to launch any new hardware.

“Join us for a night out with Google Play. Music, movies, games and a special performance by Capital Cities,” reads the official event invite.

The Nexus 5 is tipped to be the first device to run Android 4.4 KitKat natively and on  5-inch Full 1080p HD display nonetheless. Google’s next flagship smartphone is also tipped to pack a 2.3GHz quad-core processor with an 8-megapixel rear camera.
