Google Play Family Library lets you share purchases with your household

Google is reportedly planning to launch an Apple-like family sharing plan that would give Android device owners the chance to share all of their purchased content with family members.

Google Play Family Library will allow apps, games, music, movies and TV shows to be accessed by six family members.

All of the content will be made available beyond Android devices. It’ll be accessible on the web and even the Google Play apps for iOS devices.

The reported arrangement looks to be similar to the Apple family sharing platform and is an extension of the offer open to Google Play Music subscribers.

As with Apple’s platform the responsibility will fall on a single account holder. It doesn’t cost anymore money, but a credit card will need to be placed on file.

It’ll also be possible to limit access to certain content, if the account holder desires. This could behind if the movie and music library contains content unsuitable for children.

According to a CNET report, the plan will begin rolling out in some countries next month.
