You can now download your entire Google search history as a file to your computer.

Google has quietly rolled out the ability to take ownership of your entire search history in recent days.

All you have to do is navigate to the Web & App Activity page of Google's settings menu. Then click the options drop-down icon in the top right corner and hit Download.

Confirm by hitting Create Archive, and a copy of your search history will be saved to your Google Drive account as a ZIP archive. You'll be emailed a link to this file (or files, if your search history is extensive) when it's ready.

You should note that it's also possible to delete select or even all of your search history from this same Web & App Activity page - just tick the appropriate boxes (or the 'All' box) and hit the Remove items button.

Google has allowed you to view your search history for some time now, but this is the first time it's enabled you to download it in this way.

It's worth mentioning Google's warning not to download your search history on a public computer. It also encourages users to set up two-step verification to further protect your data.
