The first Google branded tablet will be released in June according to the latest reports online. But is an “official” Google tablet enough to turn the tide against the iPad tsunami?
According to serial rumour-maker DigiTimes, the Google Nexus Android tablet will arrive in June. This will be the first fully, unashamed Google-branded tablet and will reportedly be made by laptop/tablet/netbook veteran Asus.
Although the source of this rumour is not all that reliable, the idea that Asus will be at the helm is an interesting one. Asus’s tablets have consisted of the Transformer tabs, which have used a quasi-hybrid form to gain their unique status. It has worked, though.
However, the Google Nexus tablet is reportedly a step away from Asus’s standard 10.1in Transformer design template, using a 7in form. Does this only cast more doubt on the rumour or suggest that Google ranks Asus as the tablet maker to work with?
