Google’s Nexus Player is now available to buy in the UK, making it easy to put Android TV on your existing set.
The Nexus Player first launched back in November over in the United States, but Google announced it would finally be coming to the UK earlier this week.
Like other set top boxes, the Nexus Player brings a host of entertainment services to your existing TV set.
This year will see a flood of Android TV sets hit the market, but the Nexus player will allow users to bag the same service via the plug-in box.
The player connects to the internet using your standard Wi-Fi network, and plugs into your television set through via a HDMI cable.
This means that even if your TV doesn’t have any smart features by default, you’ll be able to access internet content through the box.

As the Nexus Player is based on the Android 5.0 operating system, users will also get access to Google’s Play store, and various services like Play Movies and Play Music.
What’s more, it offers exactly the same features as Google Chromecast, and is Google Cast ready.
A smorgasbord of third-party Android apps will also be available to download, including Android games like Asphalt 8 and Soul Calibur.
There’s also a compatible gamepad available to buy to play these titles, but you’ll need to pay an extra £34.99 for the peripheral.
Inside the Nexus Player is a 1.8GHz quad-core Intel Atom processor, with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. Graphics are handled by an integrated PowerVR GPU.
You can pick up the device starting today for an R.R.P of £79. It’s available from the Google Store, as well as Currys PC World, Amazon, John Lewis, and more.
