The Google Nexus 8 tablet and Nexus 6 smartphone have been spotted in some Chromium code.

Google is expected to launch a refreshed tablet range this year along with its 2014 flagship the Google Nexus 6 and fans will be eager to hear more about the upcoming entries into the affordable Nexus range.

Rumour suggests Google will launch an 8.9-inch version of the popular Google Nexus 7 2 this year, seemingly called the Nexus 8.

Thanks to two developers, official mention of the Nexus 8 has been spotted in the Chromium Code Review, although this doesn’t provide any official details about the device apart from its name.

The Chromium Code Review also makes a note of the Nexus 6 name, the name widely expected to be used for Google’s 2014 flagship smartphone.

Sadly, these references can be faked, but we’re rather intrigued by the possibility of a high-end 8.9-inch Nexus tablet.

Reports suggest that these tablets and smartphone will be the last of the Nexus devices, with Google replacing the line in 2015 with the Android Silver program.

The Nexus 8 is tipped to arrive this summer at the Google I/O with a potential 8.9-inch 2560 x 1600p QHD display but there’s currently no speculation as to what other specs it could pack.

As for the Nexus 6, rumour has it that the Google flagship will be based on the LG G3, but porbably without the QHD display panel.

That could mean we see the Nexus 6 run on a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

In the rear should be a 13-megapixel camera with a 2.4-megapixel front-facing sensor and of course the new Android 4.5 or Android 5 operating system.
