We already knew the Google Nexus 7 tablet was due to hit the UK high street this month, but now retailer Dixons has published the exact date online. Unless it was a case of an intern making a boo-boo, the 7in Android tablet will be available from July 19.

Dixons is to sell the 16GB version of the Nexus 7 tablet for £199.99, a whopping 99p more than the official Google Play device store. The Dixons page doesn't say whether it'll come with the £15 Google Play voucher you'll get (for a limited time) from Google's store.

The Google Nexus 7 is a 7in screen tablet, and the first to flat-out wear the Google name. However, it was actually made by Asus, which to date has produced a number of 10.1in Android tablets under the Transformer banner. The Nexus 7 features a powerful quad-core processor, a high quality 1,280 x 800 pixel screen and the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean software. It is the most impressive sub-£200 we've seen yet. But will it really lure people away from iPads?

In the UK it has a particular disadvantage - here several key Google services, including Google Music, haven't been launched yet. And as a device you're meant to devour music, movies and games with, a hobbled launch isn’t the best way to get the message out there. That said, we want one. How about you?

Pre- ordered two of these little beasts.

They are cheap enough to be impulse buys.
