Google Nexus 7 Official Dock and Cases Revealed

If we gave out a gadget of the month prize, the Google Nexus 7 would probably have won it last month. It's a bloomin' bargain, and now some official Asus-made accessories have been revealed to lighten your wallet further.

The Google Nexus 7 dock and case were leaked by website Nordic Hardware, complete with piccies. The most interesting of the two is, naturally, the dock. It's a simple affair, designed to hold up the 7in tablet on a desk, rather than hook it up to your TV.

It does offer some functionality, though. There's a microUSB port on the back of the dock to enable charging, alongside a 3.5mm audio socket, making it easy to hook the tablet up to a Hi-Fi. Thankfully, there's no need to connect the tablet up to the dock manually from the USB on the bottom of the tablet - it uses metal contacts on the Nexus 7's side.

The dock is to retail for $49, which should equate to around £39 here - if we're lucky. It's due out on August 24 in the US.

The Asus Premium Cover was the second leaked accessory for the low-cost tab. It's a $39 case that protects the Nexus 7's front and rear. Made from leather on the outside and microfiber on the inside, it earns its "Premium" name. It'll come in four colours - orange, red, white and black. It also has glass fiber bumpers to further protect the tablet.

Can't afford $40? A simpler plastic travel case is also on the way, and will cost $20. It'll come in grey, pink, blue and orange shades.

What went through my head when I say the title of this article was "Wow, Asus somehow managed to make a Transformer-like keyboard dock for the Nexus 7!" I'm so disappointed now. :(

Rip-off!

I bought this superb, very well made case for £12.99 last week and absolutely love it. It even has the built in magnet that turns the screen off and on when it's open and closed. Best of all, it's now been reduced to £9.90 including free delivery.
