The Google Nexus 5 will support wireless charging capabilities, leaked Android 4.4 KitKat details have revealed ahead of the phone’s expected unveiling next month.

With a Google Nexus 5 release date widely expected to be held in mid-October, new reports have suggested that, based on newly emerged details from the Android KitKat OS, the Google Nexus 4 replacement will host wireless charging options similar to the Samsung Galaxy S4 or Nokia Lumia 920. Although the Google Nexus 4 featured wireless charging options, the phone's charging pad had limited availability.

Having seemingly got its hands on a leaked log file of the Android 4.4 KitKat, Myce has revealed a collection of screen shots, with sections of code found to be discussing a new “Hammerhead” device believed to be the upcoming Google Nexus 5.

As well as seemingly confirming that the Google Nexus 5 will be a 1920 x 1080 pixel Full HD affair, one of many Google Nexus 5 rumours to have circulated in recent weeks, the file log has also pointed to wireless charging being added to the Google Nexus 5 specs sheet.

Although the tipsters have failed to offer up all the details on the Android 4.4 KitKat leak in one go, it has been suggested that the logs incorporate 133,000 lines of code, suggesting further Nexus 5 details could be emerged in the near future.

Last week, claimed Google Nexus 5 benchmarks surfaced, with the iPhone 5S rival tipped to equal the Apple handset on power and eclipse all of its Android based competition.

Widely believed to being manufactured in partnership with LG, the Google Nexus 5 is said to be based around the LG G2, with a 5.2-inch edge-to-edge display lining up alongside a 2.3GHz quad-core CPU, 13-megapixel rear-mounted camera and 3GB of RAM.

What’s more, it is expected that the Google Nexus 5 will become the first phone to land running Android 4.4. KitKat.

do phones with contactless chargers still have a usb charging port? it seems a step backwards if you have carry the charger with you.

Is this really news? Even my Nexus 4 has wireless charging, which might have been useful if Google Play had ever made the charging orb available in UK. I never liked the look of third party alternatives.

Guys I have been using LG wireless charger wcp 700. Its a flat charger. Google pics. And I tell you I love it. You are correct that its not portable. But I use my phone in the house extensively. I probably pick up and put phone on charger 5-7 times. But its always charged. It is very convenient.

I have not plugged in ever since. I agree for N5 to not have wireless charging would be going backwards. This is something I expect Google to keep.

Also another article is saying camera is 8 and not 13 Mega pixel. We'll see.
