Google Nexus 4 stock available to order once more

The Google Nexus 4 is one more available to order online, with a lead time of “1-2 weeks.”

Add together all the time the Google Nexus 4 has been available to order from the Google Play Devices store and it’d barely last longer than an episode of The Wire, but right now the Android phone can be ordered direct from Google.

According to Google, the Nexus 4 will ship within “1-2 weeks.” This goes for both the 16GB £279 model and its more affordable 8GB brother.

On 29 January, the stock status for the Google Nexus 4 changed to “temporarily out of stock”, foreshadowing today’s move to let you order the phone.

The Google Nexus 4 has only been available to buy direct from Google a few times since the phone’s launch in November 2012. Its initial online allocation sold out within minutes.

Since then, the pattern has continued, selling out online before many people even realised it had popped-up once more.

Google Nexus 4 – who’s to blame?
These stock issues have led to many asking why two such experienced companied have dropped the ball so badly. LG said that there were “no issues” on its end, putting the blame squarely at Google’s feet.

However Google UK managing director Dan Cobley wasn’t willing to let Google take all the blame for the problem, saying in a statement, “supplies from the manufacturer are scarce and erratic, and our communication has been flawed.”

Stocks have been slightly more readily available from the UK’s networks, but from O2 and Three you’ll have to pay significantly more, around £400.

Google Nexus 4 – any good?
The stock problems have been compounded by the fact that, shortages aside, it’s an excellent device. With a quad-core processor, 4.8-inch 720p IPS screen and 8-megapixel camera, it can easily compete with the more expensive Samsung Galaxy S3.

We’ll be watching to see how quickly the Google Nexus 4 stock runs out this time, but we don’t suggest you do the same. If you want one of Google’s phones, snap it up now.
