Google Nexus 4 sold out ahead of Nexus 5 unveiling – no further stock expected

The Google Nexus 4 has sold out, with no further stock of the flagship Android phone expected ahead of the upcoming Google Nexus 5 unveiling.

With the Google Nexus 5 release date expected to take place on October 14, latest reports have suggested that the search turn hardware giant has no plans to restock the current Google Nexus 4, as the quad-core Samsung Galaxy S4 rival sells out.

With both the 8GB and 16GB versions of the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean launching handset now sold out in the US, the Verge has cited “a trusted source with knowledge of the company’s plans” as stating that “Google has no plans to bring it back in stock in any storage size.”

While both storage versions of the phone have sold out in the US, there remains a few 16GB Google Nexus 4 handsets available in the UK.

Following a Google Nexus 4 price cut in recent weeks, the 4.7-inch HD display hosting handset now costs just £199, marking it out as possibly the biggest bargain on the smartphone scene.

Ahead of the mooted October 14 Google Nexus 5 release date, recent Google Nexus 5 rumours have suggested that the upcoming HTC One and iPhone 5S challenger will run the recently confirmed Android 4.4 KitKat operating system.

Expected to boast an array of specs similar to that of the LG G2, the Google Nexus 5 features list will reportedly see a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor line up alongside 3GB of RAM and a 13-megapixel rear-mounted camera.
