Google Nexus 4 ‘available’ once again through UK Google Play Store
On the back of repeated stock shortages, the Google Nexus 4 is once again back in stock through the UK Google Play Store, listed on the online outlet as ‘available’.
A handset plagued by stock issues since launch, the Google Nexus 4 originally sold out within 30 minutes of going on sale, a shopping rush caused by the handset’s premium collection of high-end innards alongside a wallet-friendly price tag.
On the back of a short but continued spell of availability earlier this year, the Google Nexus 4 is now once again back in stock, with both the £239 8GB and £279 16GB options both listed alongside minimal 3-5 day shipping estimations.
With Google and manufacturing partner LG both having attempted to shift the blame for the lengthy Google Nexus 4 delays, last month LG told us that both companies had ‘underestimated’ the Google Nexus 4 handset.
“We didn’t expect the response to the Nexus 4 that we got,” Shaun Musgrave, Product Marketing Manager for LG said speaking at MWC 2013. “The issues around availability, I think even Google underestimated the demand for the device for some reason.”
Revealing that communications between the two companies could have been better during production and launch of the 4.7-inch, quad-core Samsung Galaxy S4 and iPhone 5 rival, Musgrave added: “It wasn’t working in terms of supply between them and us, but I’m not blaming everything on them, I don’t want to do that at all, because even ourselves, we underestimated how great the phone would be as well.”
Google Nexus 4 Specs
A giant of the smartphone scene, the Google Nexus 4 specs sheet features a veritable feast of high-end components, with a Qualcomm S4 Pro quad-core processor partnering with 2GB of RAM and Google’s Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS to run the show.
With a 4.7-inch IPS display taking pride of place on the handset’s fore, a 1280 x 768p resolution and 320 pixels-per-inch image density help ensure stunning visuals, whilst a Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protective coating keeps the device safe from knocks, drops and scratches.
Lining up at just 9.1mm thick and 139g in weight, the Google Nexus 4 features list is further complimented by an 8-megapixel rear-mounted camera, 1.3-megapixel forward-facing snapper and a 2100mAh Lithium Polymer battery.
