Download Google’s leaked Nexus launcher for Android right here

Desperate to get your hands on the leaked Nexus (2016) Android launcher? Lucky for you, there’s already a download available…

Yesterday, we reported on a post by Android Police that revealed a new Android launcher currently in development at Google. The article claimed that the launcher would be exclusively available on the two upcoming Nexus smartphones rumoured for launch this autumn. New features included a revamped app drawer and a tweaked Google Search widget.

Since then, the file for the new launcher has been leaked in full over on Google+, as first reported by 9to5google. That means you can already test out the launcher ahead of its actual release.

Unfortunately, that Google+ post has since been removed, but you can still pick up the download over on Dropbox:

If that link doesn’t work (at the time of writing, it’s overloaded with traffic), you can try this mirrored download:

Download APK

Disclaimer: This is an unofficial .apk file, which means it could be the software equivalent of the ebola virus. We can’t speak to its legitimacy, so download this at your own risk. We’d recommend loading it onto a spare device rather than your main handset.

It’s also worth remembering that the Nexus phones are (supposedly) still quite a long way from launch, and Google is notorious for tweaking products and software late in the game. So even if the software is the legitimate version Google is testing right now, the actual launch software could look very different.
