The Google I/O 2014 dates have been confirmed, with the search turn Android giant announcing its annual developer conference will be held on June 25 and 26.

The seventh instalment of Google's annual conference, Google I/O will be held in San Francisco, with Google’s Senior Vice President Sundar Pichai announcing that the show will kick off in 126 days’ time.

Confirming the dates via his official Google Plus page, Pichai stated: “On June 25-26, 2014, we’ll be broadcasting live from Moscone West.”

He added: “You can join us in person in San Francisco or remotely, via a live stream and through I/O Extended community events around the world.”

Although the general convention has a strong, developer-minded tilt, in recent years the global platform has also been used to make key product announcements, including the unveiling of Google Glass and members of the Nexus family.

For Google I/O 2014, it is widely expected that the Apple and Microsoft rival will lift the covers on its long mooted Android 5 OS and the heavily rumoured Google Nexus 8 tablet. Google, as you might expect, has yet to offer any indication on potential launch items.

Despite remaining coy on the nature of its upcoming announcements, given the company's recent acquisitions of Nest and all manner of robotics companies, it is also not out of the question that the Mountain View-based company could offer up some insight on its home automation plans.

With the Google I/O 2014 dates now set, Pichai has promised further conference details next month, including how wannabe attendees can register.

The Google VP teased simply: “More details to come next month.”
