Google Glass update adds YouTube uploads, wink to take pictures and more
Google has updated its Google Glass software with a bunch of new features, including the ability to upload videos to YouTube and take pictures by winking.
As part of its December update, Google is addressing a number of the biggest requests from Google Glass users.
YouTube uploading is fairly self explanatory – you can now upload the videos you shoot on your Google Glass device simply by saying “ok glass, share with YouTube” when you’re done recording.
As for that cheeky wink gesture, it enables you to discretely take photos with an eye-twitch. We can imagine things getting a little hairy in the UK with this increase in public winking, but Google has big plans for it beyond photography.
“Imagine a day where you’re riding in the back of a cab and you just wink at the meter to pay,” Google says. “You wink at a pair of shoes in a shop window and your size is shipped to your door. You wink at a cookbook recipe and the instructions appear right in front of you.”
Other Google Glass additions include a new lock screen security feature that allows you to tap out a “secret handshake” to gain access to your device.
Full Hangouts support has also been added, so you can now instant message your friends from those funky smart glasses.
Finally, Google has finished its Google Glass app for iOS, and this latest software update will serve to prepare the way for iPhone users when it launches later this week.
