Good news! Sony’s best smartphone is coming to UK after all

Despite initial doubts, it appears the Sony Xperia X Performance will go on sale in the UK after all.

Sony’s flagship Xperia X Performance is now available for pre-order in the UK, and it’s all thanks to online retailer Clove. At its February launch, Sony confirmed the phone wouldn’t go on sale in the UK. But the good news is that Clove has now listed the device, albeit for a hefty £549 (including VAT).

The Sony Xperia X Performance is the most powerful of Sony’s 2016 smartphone line-up, beating both the Xperia X and Xperia XA in terms of computing heft. That’s because it’s the only phone out of the three to feature Qualcomm’s top-end Snapdragon 820 processor. As you can imagine, Sony fans were distraught that the best Xperia X wasn’t going to be available in the UK (or anywhere in Europe, for that matter).

Unfortunately, it still appears that Sony has no plans to sell the phone directly in the UK. Nevertheless, this is excellent news for UK phone buyers. The delayed launch could be an issue, mind. The Sony Xperia X Performance is retailing at £549, while the equally new (and critically acclaimed) Samsung Galaxy S7 is already available for just £440.95 on Amazon UK.
