We’re not betting folk, but we’d be willing to stake some cash that Apple will launch a new iPhone this year.
Apple is yet to formally unveil the new smartphone, but Goldgenie – a company that offers luxurious customisations of mobile devices – will let you sign yourself up for first picks when it comes to buying a gold-plated iPhone 6S.
“As soon as the new iPhone 6S launches, Goldgenie will be offering its signature luxury customised versions of this highly anticipated smartphone,” explains the re-seller.
It continues: “The iPhone 6S will be available in lustrous finishes of 24K Gold, Rose Gold, and Platinum in Goldgenie’s classic elite models with a mirror like shine.”
Confusingly, there’s a countdown clock on the website that points to 14:00 (British Summer Time) on August 31. We’ve got absolutely no idea why.
It’s bewildering largely because Apple has been widely rumoured to be planning an iPhone 6S launch for September 9.
That’ll apparently be followed by pre-orders on September 11, and an official on-sale date of September 18.
It will be interesting to see what Goldgenie’s clock actually refers to.

The website also doesn’t offer any details in the way of pricing for a gilded iPhone 6S, but its previous offerings can give us a clue as to an expected mark-up.
For instance, a 24-karat gold-plated iPhone 6 will set you back £1,977.74, excluding VAT.
Pricier still is the gold iPhone 6 Plus Diamond Ecstasy Limited Edition, which will set you back a staggering £9,330.83 before VAT.
We can only imagine what ludicrous mark-ups will be attached to the mooted iPhone 6S and 6S Plus.
