Gold HTC One M9 pictured ahead of launch

Images of a gold HTC One M9 handset have leaked online just weeks ahead of the phone’s expected unveiling.

With the HTC One M8 follow-on widely expected to enter the realms of reality on March 1, the newly leaked images have shown off the glitzier side of the upcoming Galaxy S6 rival.

While this is far from the first time we’ve been offered a premature look at the device, the latest One M9 leaks have offered the first look at the refreshed handset in its new golden skin.

Previous leaks have focused on the more conventional silver iteration of the Snapdragon 810 powered handset.

Like past appearances, however, the newly surfaced images, which have popped up courtesy of French site NoWhereElse, have shown a curved, metal bodied design which features a large, square camera housing in the centre of the phone’s rear.

This impressive looking 20.7-megapixel sensor appears set to replace the 4-Ultrapixel, dual lens snapper found on last year’s model.

With the HTC One M8 having been available in three colour schemes at launch – silver, gold and grey – it appears that the 2015 will follow suit.

Variable hues aside, the HTC One M9 is shaping up as something of a powerhouse of the smartphone space.

Building on the phone’s impressive processor and camera set up, the handset has been tipped to add 3GB of RAM, a 5-inch, 1080p, Full HD display and a 13-megapixel selfie-snapper up front.

Google’s latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS, a new Sense 7.0 UI and BoomSound stereo speakers are also expected to feature.
