Cult indie game hit and YouTube sensation Goat Simulator has made its way over to iOS and Android.
The deeply silly open world carnage sim Goat Simulator proved an unlikely hit (actually, we think it was VERY likely) with PC gamers earlier in the year. It’s sold around one million copies to date.
Now the game has been made available on the iOS App Store and the Google Play Store for £2.99. This represents a bit of a surprise even for those expecting its mobile release, as the game wasn’t supposed to go live until September 19.
“SURPRISE we kind of released Goat Simulator on iOS & Android two days early. We couldn’t stay off that “publish” button. It’s out RIGHT now!” tweeted Armin Ibrisagic of Coffee Stain Studios, the developer of the game.
Goat Simulator sees you taking control of the titular goat in a freeform open world setting. You’re able to wander around and destroy pretty much anything in the game’s town by butting and tethering your improbably flexible tongue to stuff.
Think of those GTA rampages but with less death and explicit violence and more goat.
A large part of Goat Simulator’s success up to this point has been down to the game’s immense suitability for recording and posting snippets of its bizarre gameplay to YouTube and other video services. It’s one of those game’s that’s as much fun to watch as it is to play.
The fact that you can now whip it out and show it off in public has to be a good thing. And what else are you going to use that new iPhone 6 for?
