Following last week’s launch, the Microsoft published title has stormed to the top of the UK All Format Gaming Chart despite selling four times fewer copies than its predecessor, a drop widely attributed to the game’s prequel status.
Having spent two weeks in pole position, the latest Tomb Raider offering has dropped to second for the week ending March 23. Completing the week’s podium positions, Activision’s latest offering, The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, has hit the charts in third place, the week’s second highest new entry.
Rising back up the ranks, EA Sports’ dominant football sim FIFA 13 has risen two places on the back of a 32 per cent rise in week-on-week sales, an achievement that sees the PES rival secure 26 consecutive weeks within the UK All Format Gaming Chart top six. Dropping one place to make room for a resurgent FIFA, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 has rounded out the week in fifth.
Securing the lower chart positions, Sony’s God of War: Ascension has slipped from second to sixth following a 61 per cent slump in sales, whilst Capcom’s 3DS and Wii U bound Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is the week’s third new entry to tackle the top ten, lining up in seventh.
With EA’s SimCity seeing off a number of issues to drop just three places to eighth in the UK All Format Gaming Chart, a pair of former chart toppers round out the week’s top ten, with Far Cry 3 leading home Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 in ninth and tenth places respectively.
