Gears of War 4 will support split-screen across all modes

The Coalition has confirmed that Gears of War 4 will not abandon split-screen, a celebrated feature amongst fans.

Speaking to Game Informer, studio head Rod Fergusson said the franchise “can never get rid of” split-screen multiplayer.

“Any way you can play Gears of War you can play split-screen,” Fergusson said. Granted, the game will at a lower framerate in certain modes with split-screen enabled.

Fergusson went on to talk about the game’s upcoming beta, describing it as a “technical beta” instead of a generic marketing demo.

“What you’re going to play is basically an alpha build of our multiplayer. It’s actually, ‘Hey, we have brand new technology on our servers and we have brand new features on our client and we want that to be tested at scale and we want your help.’”

The multiplayer beta will begin on April 18 for those who purchased Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, before rolling out for others on April 25.
