Garmin Approach S4 unveiled with smartwatch capabilities
Garmin has entered the smartwatch race, with the latest addition to its golf themed timepieces, the Garmin Approach S4 being unveiled with smartphone linking capabilities.
As well as offering the usual GPS utilising golf tracking features, the newly unveiled Garmin Approach S4 will allow users to connect their smartphones via Bluetooth 4.0 to receive incoming call, messaging and email notifications while on the move.

Garmin Approach S4 Features
Like previous Garmin Approach watches, the Garmin Approach S4 has been designed with golfers in mind, coming pre-installed with more than 30,000 of the world’s most popular golf courses, utilising integrated GPS connectivity to offer shot yardages and distances to the pin.
Playing host to a high-resolution touchscreen display, the Garmin Approach S4 is easy to navigate, with the watch able to be used even when wearing gloves. Water resistant to 10 metres, the timepiece weighs in at just 58.4g and is set to be available in both black and white colour schemes.
Compatible only with iPhone devices, the Garmin Approach S4’s smartwatch capabilities will see the wrist wear use Bluetooth to let users know when they have incoming calls or other inbound notifications. Unlike the Samsung Galaxy Gear, the Approach S4 will not let you make calls direct from your wrist.
Back to its golfing credentials, and with a battery life capable of more than 10 hours on GPS enabled golfing mode, the Approach S4 will be more than able to stand up to a couple of weekend rounds. It has a dedicated ‘Greens’ button to offer more detail on the course’s contours and pin positions.
Garmin Approach S4 Release Date and Price
With a Garmin Approach S4 release date confirmed for “late October,” the sat nav specialist has revealed that a Garmin Approach S4 price will set wannabe owners back a premium £289.99. It is set to be made available through a selection of specialist golf retailers and course shops.
